Digires

is a joint initiative of the academic community, media organizations, and independent journalists, aimed at detecting, analyzing, and countering disinformation activities in Lithuania and abroad.

I had the opportunity to work with DIGIRES as an illustrator, creating characters and backgrounds for the project. The animation and voice acting were carried out by the DIGIRES team.

Flat Earth

In Lithuanian, ‘plokščia žemė’ means ‘flat earth.’ This video features a bear who had a brilliant idea to check some facts. Wondering if the Earth is truly round, he walked through the forest for two days and observed that the ground was always level, leading him to conclude that the Earth must be flat. He then meets a friend, a squirrel, and eagerly shares his new discovery. The message of the video is simple: don’t trust news from unknown sources.

5G satellites

In Lithuanian, ‘5g antenos’ translates to ‘5G satellites.’ The video depicts a local forest crow spreading rumors that 5G internet is responsible for the disappearance of all the birds in the forest. A dog joins the conversation and offers a logical explanation: the seasons have changed, and the birds have migrated south. The video’s takeaway is clear: one should be skeptical of unsubstantiated news, even if it comes from local forest sources.

Vaccine

In Lithuanian, ‘skiepai’ means ‘vaccine.’ The video is about a bear spreading misinformation that vaccines can change the color of your fur and eyes. A dog challenges this claim and suggests that fear often stems from a lack of understanding. Therefore, seeking trusted information is important rather than falling for the local bear’s conspiracy theories.
